What better customer could a boxmaker ask for than a customer who has the word box in their company name?! I was introduced to the lovely ladies of Birchbox in 2010 when they were taking their Harvard Business School project live.
They had connections, they had backers and most of all, they had a fantastic idea. In the cosmetics industry, there are samples everywhere. But as a brand, how do you know if the money you spend on samples leads to sales? Birchbox answers that by sending samples and driving sales back to their retail site. It’s more than a retail site though – it’s conversations and demos too.
Their success, like many good ideas, set off a chain reaction of similar companies in many industries such as pet food, hosiery and fashion. Hoseanna, and Stitch Fix are two that I’ve worked with. When their business got big enough to move from generic, unbranded shippers and packaging to branded packaging, that’s where I’ve come in to be a valued partner.
If you’re considering this type of business, I read a great post here at KissMetrics that could help you. If you’re ready to move on to branded packaging that will delight your customer, give me a call!
