Where will you go this year for inspiration and education? Well, I’ve put together my conference/tradeshow planning for 2018. Here’s what I’ve got in mind – let’s meet if you are at any of these!

First up will be Luxe Pack/MakeUpinLA in early February. This will be a combination of visual inspiration – walking the show part of the two events – and education, by taking time to listen to the various speakers at both events. It’s tough to pick and choose, but I’m hoping it will be flexible so I can move between the two!

Early in March is the Social Media Marketing World held right here in San Diego.

This will be my second year of attending! SMMW is really well organized with various tracks that you can stick to or go where you want. I learned a ton last year, met some great people and looking forward to this year. You can attend virtually too – people from around the world attend in person and virtually!

I’m taking a break in April but staying here in San Diego again on May 4-6 for the Annual Y Conference hosted by the San Diego AIGA chapter. This is the 23rd year and I can say that early on the company I represented sponsored each year. This meant I attended in those first 10+ years. It’s a creative conference and a bit of a reunion as well for some! Not specifically packaging per se, just more inspiration for me!

For Fall, the only conference I’m ready to sign up for is Adobe Max – The Creativity Conference. It’s in LA this year, so pretty close by. Some say it’s expensive but this will be my 2nd year, and they offer a discount for “alumni”.

Wow, last year in Las Vegas, this was an amazing event. You can watch keynotes all year long for repeat inspiration. Adobe is everywhere in the design world!

The one I am sad to be missing – again – is How Design Live where The Dieline Conference now lives – that’s April 30-May 3 in Boston.

How can I go to them all and absorb everything?!! I’ll take what I can get this year. See you there!
